Rep. Nick Langworthy's FAA Regulation Amendment 

Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy is pleased that his amendment passed, to keep the airline pilot training hours at 1500 hours.  Langworthy says, the families of Flight 3407, which crashed in February of 2009, were the ones who pushed for more training for airline pilots.
 

Gillibrand Says - No Using Crytpo For Illegal Activities

In this years National Defense bill, Democrat U.S. Senator Kirsten Gililbrand , is working to get an amendment passed to ban crypto currency assets for any illegal purposes, such as hiding fentanyl trafficking and ransomware theft money. 

 

Big Meeting For The D.A. Today 

District Attorney Brooks Baker meets today with the State Police and Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, to discuss whether to press criminal charges against a suicidal male suspect, or to let the case be dealt with by mental health officials.  The Hornell Sun broke a story over the weekend, and WLEA News confirmed it with the District Attorney: that a male suspect who tried to kill himself, had a note about wanting to kill prominent elected officials.  As soon as we learn District Attorney Brooks Baker’s decision, we’ll let you know what that is.

 

Road And Bridge Work Is Under Way Locally

Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says Route 76 in Urbana between the Hammondsport Village line and Sanford road is now single lane traffic and that’ll last till August 11th.  County crews are replacing a guardrail.  Also, the Anglehart Road bridge in the Town of Lindley is closed today and that work will last for 10 weeks. There is not an onsite detour.

 

Two Big Names, Coming To This Summer's County Fair

At this year’s Steuben County Fair, which is coming up in mid-August, Flo Rida and Fitz and the Tantrums, will both be performing.
