Bath Police Chief Thanks A Bath Police Officer And Sgt

Bath Police Chief Colin Taft is publicly thanking Sergeant Ruggles and Officer Brzezinski for their recent outstanding off duty actions.  The police chief says, Sergeant Ruggles, while driving home, saw a bank bag in the road. Ruggles stopped and opened the bag. Inside of the bag was $4500.00 cash. Ruggles was able to locate the owner and return it.  The Bath Police Chief also says that Officer Brzezinski was walking with a friend in Olean when the friend was struck from behind. Brzezinski was able to help the friend while at the same time help locate the driver of the vehicle.   Chief Taft says quote, “These two men are a great example of the awesome men and women that work for our Village of Bath Police Department.”

 

It's 420 Day - Troopers Want You To Drive Sober

New York State police announced this morning, that today, they are stepping up patrols and targeting drug-impaired driving during an enforcement and prevention campaign.  That’s because it’s April 20th.  State Police remind drivers that driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, including cannabis, is not only dangerous, it is illegal in New York State.

 

One Dog Dies In A House Fire Yesterday In Wheeler 
There was a house fire yesterday in the town of Wheeler. According to the Bath Volunteer fire Department, no people were home at the time but they say, a family dog died in the fire, while another was taken to the vet.  Assistant Bath Fire Chief Hill says, somewhere under 1500 gallons of water was used to get the fire under control, and, there was heavy smoke and fire damage to the home.  Also, the fire appears to have started in the kitchen.
