The Bath Mayor Speaks Out 

Bath Village Mayor Michael Sweet is speaking out about an issue, that he says, is coming from Albany and is causing problems for Bath.  According to Sweet, it's happening because of the changes that have come out of Albany in the past several years.  "The (county) mental health office sits in our business district, that's an issue that we see, patients coming downtown for that," Sweet said.  "It's a struggle, it's a balance, but our business owners demand that we make downtown safe, and we're going to do that."

 

Sempolinski To Hold His First Town Halls, This Saturday 

Congressman Joe Sempolinski (R, Canisteo) is having a number of Town Hall meetings this weekend.  The closest one to us, will be on Saturday morning, at the Forest View Gang Mills Fire Department at 930am.  The congressman says, that whether you agree with him or not, he welcomes people to come and ask questions.  "The people of this congressional district knows that I am listening to them," Sempolinski said this morning during a weekly press call.  "I'm going to listen to everybody."

 

Prescription Drug Take Back Day - October 29 

The Steuben County Sheriff and the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee will co-host a “Drug Prescription Take Back” collection from 10 am – 2 pm Oct. 29 at the county Public Safety Building, 7007 Rumsey St. Ext. 

 

Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler says, the process of buying four new sheriff’s department vehicles continues.  According to Wheeler, the county discovered a company (and this is rare, because of supply chain issues) that can sell the sheriff's office, five new vehicles.  Originally, the county was only looking for four new vehicles for the Steuben Co Sheriff.

 

Cornell Cooperative Extension Update

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County recently has taken charge of the Finger Lakes Shared Business Network as the lead organization. The Finger Lakes Shared Business Network is made up of Cooperative Extension associations in the counties of Steuben, Livingston, Yates, Wayne, Ontario, Schuyler and Seneca.   Also, Cornell Cooperative Extension invites the public to come out to the Main Place in Hornell on Friday, November 4th for an Annual Meeting with a trivia competition, there will also be food and prizes and contests. That will be Friday November 4th, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at The Main Place, on Main Street, in Hornell.
