Minmum Wage Changes To Come In December 

There’s going to be a state minimum wage increase in December.  Minimum wage is going to go from $13.20 an hour, to $14.20 an hour.  State Senator George Borrello is opposed and says, this will cause problems for employers who promised their workers a raise anyway.  Supporters of minimum wage increases say it helps the poor support a family

 

And The Winners Are...,

The Star gazette reports that 28 year old Spencer Friske was the men’s winner of the Wineglass Marathon, finishing in 2 hours, 17 minutes, 57 seconds, and, 26 year-old Lindsay Piraino of Rochester was the winner in the women's division, finishing in 2 hours, 51 minutes, 22 seconds.

 

Emergency Go-Home Drill At Campbell-Savona Friday

Here is a reminder from the Campbell Savona School District: The Emergency Go-Home Drill will be conducted this Friday, October 7th. The junior/senior high school will dismiss at 2:16 and the elementary school will dismiss at 2:40.

 

A Fatal Accident In Hornell

Hornell police have released a statement about a fatal car/pedestrian accident that happened on Friday afternoon.  Hornell Police say that accident claimed the life of 93 year old John Prete of Hornell.  The driver was ticketed for failure to exercise due care to a pedestrian in the roadway.  Hornell Police are currently reviewing the case with the Steuben County District Attorneys Office.
