County Covid Update - August 29, 2022

Steuben County Public Health reports that 152 new COVID cases have been reported since last Monday's update.  Officials say that Steuben County is now into the Medium community level. The county public health office also says, think about precautions with Labor Day gatherings: "if you're feeling sick, get tested and stay home, it’s also recommended when a county is in medium for those at high risk of getting very sick to wear a high-quality mask or N95 when indoors in public."

 

Water Main Work Started Today In The Village Of Bath

Bath Gas Electric and Water is doing water main replacement on Muck Circle and that started today, work on that is expected to last through the month of September.  Bath Gas Electric and Water also says, starting today, their offices is closed to walk in customers but there will be a drive up window.  Bath Gas Electric And Water says, the drive up window will be open weekdays, 830am to 4pm, but closed from 1pm to 2pm.

 

Bath Man Facing Drug Charges

The Village of Bath Police Department reports the arrest of Keith C. Frailey, 43, of 31 W William St, Bath, NY on August 23.  Bath Police Chief Colin Taft says, Frailey was arrested subsequent to a suspicious person investigation where he was found to be in possession of a large quantity of various narcotic drugs. Frailey is currently charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, both Class B felony and one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.  Frailey was turned over to the Steuben County Jail to be arraigned in the Steuben County CAP Court, where he was held without bail.  The investigation is still ongoing and further charges are pending for Frailey.   Frailey is currently on parole for Burglary with the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

 

Bath Resident Allegedly Violates Protection Order

The Village of Bath Police Department reports the arrest of Shaylee E. Ridley, age 25, of Bath, on August 26, 2022.  This arrest stems from a Criminal Contempt complaint in which Ridley violated an order of protection.  Ridley was subsequently charged with Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest, all class A misdemeanors. Ridley was turned over to the custody of the Steuben County Jail to be arraigned in Steuben County CAP court at which time she was remanded to jail on $250.00 bail.  Ridley is scheduled to appear in the Village of Bath Court at a later date. 

 

Security Cameras And Solving Crime 

Security video is helping police departments in the region out these days.  Elmira Police report, that they found out the identity of several vandals, that damaged vehicles at the Elm Chevrolet recently.  Police in Elmira say it was over $10,000 in damage to the vehicles.

 

Hochul And Zeldin And Their Thoughts On Crime 

Governor Kathy Hochul said today, that 6,000 illegal guns are off the street and the governor calls this real progress.  the governor’s opponent, Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin says, violence in the streets of New York City keeps getting worse and worse with pro criminal laws, lax district attorneys and judges.
