Hammondsport And Campbell: Places To Be On Saturday

Two big events are happening locally, tomorrow.  In Hammondsport, it’s the 11th annual smoke on the water, is coming up tomorrow from Noon till 800pm.  It’s on the southern end of Kueka Lake and it’s being put on by the Hammondsport fire department.  Also tomorrow, in Campbell, at the American legion, from 10am till 4pm tomorrow there’s the second annual craft fair and community event, there will be over 40 craft vendors, lots of kid activities, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken barbeques and bake sales.  Proceeds will go to local veterans and the Campbell community.

 

Two Bath Residents Are Charged With Burglary 2nd Degree

Bath Police Chief Colin Taft says, recently, 35 year old Michael A. Cavallaro and 21 year old Kiara Ackley, both of Bath, were each charged with 2nd degree burglary, a class C Felony.  The Bath Police Chief says, both suspects are alleged to have forced their way into a residence with intent to commit a crime on West Washington Street.  The two were processed and then taken to the Steuben County Jail where they were arraigned and released. They are both due back in court at a later date.

 

Possible Changes To The County Lawmaker Maps

Coming up on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, Steuben County voters will be able to vote on  proposed changes in the county Legislature’s districts.   There will be a public referendum about the changes to the maps of county lawmakers will be one of things you can vote on in the November Election.  Proposed changes include County District 3, which covers the Town of Bath, adding Bradford to the county district 3 map.  Also, county lawmaker district 5 is up for changes (that's Urbana, Prattsburgh and Pulteney).  The proposed changes would add the Town of Wayne, and County Lawmaker District Map 7, the Town of Erwin, adds Campbell and adds an additional county lawmaker seat.
