Bath Resident Charged After Alleged Break-In

State police report that 31 year old Carissa Liberti of Bath, is charged with 3rd degree burglary, illegal entry and petit larceny.   Liberti was held in custody. 

 

Second Annual Sheriff's Showdown At WGI

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says, that for the second year in a row, this year on October 13th at Watkins Glen, there’s going to be a friendly race between law enforcement officials, it’s called the Sheriff’s Showdown.  The money raised from the October 13th Sheriff’s Showdown will go towards the New York State Sheriff’s Institute and Summer Camp.

 

Another Bail Reform Success Story

Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom says, a 27 year old Corning man and another suspect, tried to rob a man, using a knife and a machete, during a home invasion in Southport.  The homeowner had a gun and chased the two away, the 27 year old Corning man, was later found in Steuben County and charged with 3rd degree burglary.  The Chemung County Sheriff also reports, that the arrest, turned into another catch and release situation, because of the bail reform laws out of Albany.

 

Reaction To Cancelling Student Debt

Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer says, he’s glad that President Joe Biden listened to the Senate Democrats call, to cancel student debt for millions of borrowers, including those who got pell grants.   Democrat Senator Gillibrand says Biden’s easing the burden of student loan debt for years to come.  Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz says: The highest concentration of student loan debt is held by people in Washington, DC. This administration’s policy is to force blue collar workers and American families across the country to pay off the cost of a Washington bureaucrat’s college degree.”
