Fentynal And Meth Arrest In Bath 

From State Police: The New York State Police Troop E Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) conducted a narcotic investigation in Steuben County on Monday, August 22.  At approximately 5:30 a.m., a search warrant was executed at 7114 State Route 415 Apartment 103 in the town of Bath.  During a search of the residence investigators seized US currency, approximately 7.5 ounces of methamphetamine and approximately 15 grams of fentanyl.   Resident, Gerald L. Barclay, age 24, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.  Barclay was remanded to the Steuben County Jail awaiting arraignment.  The New York State Police utilized its Special Operations Response Team (SORT), a NYSP K9 Unit, and were assisted by the Elmira Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).    

 

Primary/Special Election Results 

Here’s what we know, as of this posting, about last night’s primary and special election.  For the local GOP primary, Nick Langworthy has been declared the winner by most media outlets, though there are still 30 districts that are not in yet.  And Nick Langworthy is ahead of Carl Paladino, district wide, by 1,992 votes.  In Steuben County, Langworthy got 2,587 more votes than Paladino.  However, Carl Paladino is refusing to concede, Paladino says he wants to see about statistical irregularities in more than one county. 

 

Now in regards to the Special Election, where there are still 29 districts that are not in yet, Republican Joe Sempolinski is ahead of Democrat Max Della Pia, district wide, by 4,748 votes.  In Steuben County, Sempolinski’s ahead of Della Pia by 3,444 votes.  And Joe Sempolinski has declared victory.   Also, Max Della Pia will be on the ballot in the November for the Democrats for the race for the new 23rd congressional district, and will – unless Paladino can turn this around – Della Pia will run against Republican Nick Langworthy in November.

 

Corning Man To Appear In Corning City Court On Friday 

Corning resident and murder suspect, 29 year old Brett Heffner, will be in Corning City Court on Friday morning.  Brett Heffner is accused of killing 26 year old Keli Collins in Corning recently.

 

Bingo Is Coming Back

The bath fire department says that Bingo is back at the bath volunteer fire department…It starts up monday September 19th…Doors open at 530 and games start at 7pm.  This will be every 1st and 3rd Mondays.

 

Polio Vaccination Rate In Steuben County

Steuben county public health says, last month, a case of paralytic polio was confirmed in Rockland County. They also say polio is in more than that one person in Rockland and Orange Counties and NYC.   Here are the numbers locally on polio vaccines: they say one in four Steuben County two year olds are not up to date on their polio vaccines. The county is encouraging parents to get the polio vaccine for their kids.

 

Beaver Dams Man Facing Meth Accusations

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on August 19, 2022, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Andy R. Mattison, age 46, of Hornby Road, Beaver Dams, New York, following an investigation of a 911 open line in the Town of Bradford, New York.  It is alleged that Mr. Mattison possessed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine with the intent to sell it.  Mr. Mattison was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a class D Felony.  Mr. Mattison was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
