Remember The School Board/Budget Vote Is Tues May 17

School board candidate/school budget voting day is Tuesday May 17th.  Voting will be noon till eight Tuesday in Bath, Prattsburgh, Hammondsport and Campbell Savona.

 

Source: Tom Reed's Resignation Took His Staff By Surprise

When Tom Reed’s resigned from the House of Representatives on Tuesday, word is, it came as a big surprise to those in his closest inner circle.  Alfred University Political Science Professor Dr Robert A Heineman is in the loop, and Heineman says, that no one in the office saw it coming.  "It's pretty clear that he did not tell this anybody," Heineman said.  "I've talked with a number of people and there was no communication, whatsoever." 

 

Fighting Fire From Far Enough Away

Steuben County Legislative Chair Scott Van Etten stated that, “we’ve got to do something,” to help towns and villages who rely on out of town/ paid for, ambulance and fire services.  County officials say that on the one hand, places like Bath, are providing these services to smaller towns outside their areas.  On the other hand, it’s not free and some in those less populated towns sometimes worry about the possible expenses when they call 9-1-1.  County officials say this is a statewide problem.  The Steuben County Public Safety and Corrections Committee says they’ll look for ways to address this.


Videos Of Local Factories Are Being Seen By Students

The Steuben County IDA has sentut videos to schools across the county today, videos about careers in manufacturing, to encourage interested students to go in that direction.  Among the companies featured in these videoes are: Instant Brands  Alstom Siemens Energy  Gunlocke Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc.  and Corning Incorporated.
