GOP Reaction To State Budget Highlights, Good And Bad

Republicans are now saying that the changes made and passed with the rest of the state budget on Saturday morning are not enough.  State Senator Tom O’Mara listed off the crimes that are still not eligible for holding a suspect on bail: those charged with 2nd degree unlawful imprisonment, 3rd degree burglary, 2nd degree robbery for first time offenders, 3rd degree robbery for first time offenders, 3rd, 4th and 5th degree arson for first time offenders.  O’Mara is pleased though, that the new state budget eliminates the Fiber Optic Tax.  "This ‘fiber tax’ repeal is the single most important action the state can immediately take to try to ensure that broadband development across rural, upstate New York receives an equal and fair commitment,” O'Mara stated.
