Hammondsport School Calendar News

At the Hammondsport Board of Education's March meeting, the Board approved changes to the 2021-2022 District calendar, making June 23, 2022 the last day of school for students and staff. 

 

Fatal Fire In Allegany County

One person died in a house fire in the Allegany County of Wellsville this morning, that person’s name has not been released yet. 

 

Teen Might Possibly Charged With DUI Or DWI In Chemung County, After Five Were Injured

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office reports that they are investigating an early morning accident that occurred at the intersection of Laurel Hill Rd. and Park Station Road, in the Town

of Erin.  At 12:36 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to this location for a report of a roll-over motor vehicle accident involving five occupants.  Officials say that during the course of the investigation, deputies determined that a teenage driver, was traveling north on Laurel Hill Road when at some point he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then left the roadway, traveled through some brush and went airborne into a ravine. The vehicle continued through some more brush and thickets, afterwards rolling over and coming to a stop. The driver and four of his passengers, ranging from the ages of 17 to 20 years old, were all transported from the scene to various hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.  Based on evidence at the scene and the initial investigation conducted, it was clear that alcohol was a contributing factor in this accident. Sheriff’s Deputies are continuing their investigation and charges are expected to be filed at a later date.

 

National Vietnam War Veterans Day

Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day.  This is a day that was created by President Donald Trump in 2020.  State Senator Tom O’Mara put out a statement saying to Vietnam Vets, “thank you for your sacrifice and for your service.” 

 

Schumer Talks About Senate’s Jobs Bill

This morning in the US Senate, Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that the Jobs and Competitiveness legislation has passed in the senate.   Schumer says that this will help lower costs by making it easier to produce critical technologies here at home, like semiconductors.  “It will create more jobs by bringing manufacturing back from overseas,” the senator stated.

 

Reed: Congressional Art Contest Has Begun

The 23rd congressional district art competition is going on once again, and Congressman Tom Reed says, if you know any young students with artistic talent, to call Sharon Murphy at his office, about getting framed artwork seen, in the halls of Congress.  Sharon Murphy’s number is 607-654-7566.
