A Democrat From Tioga Co, Announces His Congressional Run

Last week we reported that Steuben County Democrat Chairman Shawn Hogan said, the Democrats had a candidate to run in the new 23rd, but Hogan said at that point last week, that he was not going to name the candidate.  Well, the candidate made the announcement today in the Buffalo News.  The candidate’s name - is Max Della Pia.  The Tioga County Democrat is a 30 year air force veteran, who has done much work for Lockheed Martin, and also has a law degree.  Steuben County Democrat Chair Hogan says, last time Max Della Pia ran, Della Pia almost won the primary. 


Rep Tom Reed: High Words Of Praise For Ukrainian President Zelensky

“It’s true leadership,” Congressman Tom Reed said today of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.  “What you see is inspiring.  What you see from Zelenskyy, you see him setting aside politics and the politics of today, and putting his people first.  When you’re fighting for your homeland, when you’re fighting for your country, and now he’s fighting for his country militarily, and you see how leadership not only inspires his nation, but the world.”   

 

Sen. O’Mara Is Taking Names, For The Woman Of Distinction Award

State Senator Tom O’Mara today reminded area residents that he is seeking nominations for the Senate's 25th annual "Women of Distinction" program to honor local women making outstanding contributions to area communities.  O’Mara says if a resident known is for her good deeds, I'd like to see her recognized."  The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday, March 25.

 

State Comptroller: No New Investments In Russian Companies

New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli has directed staff to prohibit all new investments in Russian companies and to review the New York State Common Retirement Fund’s current investments and assess whether they present financial risks that warrant further restrictions or divestment. Dinapoli says, the Fund probably has $110.8 million in public equity investments direct holdings and co-mingled funds in Russian companies.

 

Gov Hochul – Free Snowmobiling Two Weekends This Month

Governor Kathy Hochul today designated March 5-6 and March 12-13 for free snowmobiling by all out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers. During these promotional weekends, the requirement to register in New York is waived for properly registered and insured out-of-state snowmobiling enthusiasts wishing to explore New York's 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails. The Governor also announced up to $4.2 million for snowmobile trail maintenance and grooming will be distributed to local partners across New York State.
