IRA Davenport Memorial Hospital to host vaccination clinic

All three COVID-19 vaccines will be offered by Arnot Health as part of a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the IRA Davenport Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One can register on the Arnot Health website or by calling 1-800-952-2662. Walk-ins will also be accommodated until 1:30 p.m.


Governor Cuomo signs new voting reform laws

Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday signed a multitude of new voting reforms into law, namely focusing on absentee and mail in ballots. The new reforms include eliminating signed absentee ballot applications and allowing absentee ballots postmarked by Election Day to be considered timely, allowing voters to request absentee ballots electronically means, requiring boards of elections to post information about changes in polling places, conforming deadlines for the mailing of applications for absentee ballots to USPS guidelines, allowing candidates who have lost primaries to be removed from ballots as candidates for different parties, and increasing election district registrant enrollment from 1,150 to 2,000.


Guthrie warns of new phone scam

Guthrie is warning patients about a new caller ID scam, in which people receive phone calls showing The Guthrie Clinic as caller ID, and are told they have overpaid for services and due for a refund in an attempt to elicit their credit card information. Guthrie says it does not use automated calls when dealing with payment or making other account adjustments, those calls are made Guthrie Financial Counselors or Patient Representatives. If unsure whether a call from Guthrie is a scam, hang up and call back to verify the call. Those who have come across the scam are asked to contact local law enforcement.


WGI to host job fair July 24th

Watkins Glen International will host a job fair next Saturday, July 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the WGI Media Center prior to the Go Bowling at The Glen NASCAR race weekend. Open positions include guest services attendants, event operations staff, event staff – cleaners, and gate staff. Attendees should enter through Gate 2 (2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen, NY 14891) and will be required to fill out a full application in addition to supplying two forms of identification to WGI. Resumes are encouraged, but not mandatory.


One new COVID-19 death in Steuben County; two more cases

The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of an individual who died from complications related to COVID-19 earlier this year.  This brings the total number of known COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 190.  The individual was a female resident of the City of Hornell who died at the age of 66. Also reported yesterday were 2 new cases of COVID in Steuben County.
