3 More County Residents Test COVID-Positive
Steuben County Public Health Department reports three Steuben County residents tested positive for COVID-19 and brings the total to 6,917 confirmed cases. 41 cases are currently active. Two of the individuals are residents of the Town of Hornellsville and one from the City of Hornell. The individuals are isolated and being monitored by the County Health Department. All those known to have direct contact with the individuals have been notified. Reed Joins Effort to Make Finger Lakes Region NHA Designation
Congressman Tom Reed joins fellow Congressmen Katko, Morelle, and Jacobs in a letter urging US Secretary Haaland to support the bipartisan effort that would make the Finger Lakes region a National Heritage area. The NHA designation would support economic development, attract tourists, and promote historic and natural resource conservation in the Finger Lakes region.
Steuben County Dairy Festival This Saturday at Fairgrounds in Bath
Tomorrow, the Steuben County Dairy Festival will be held at the Steuben County Fairgrounds on 15 E. Washington St. in Bath. A car show from Cruize'n Time, a flea market as well as craft and food vendors including the North Cameron Grange Food Tent will be there. The annual photo contest entries for this year will also be on display as well as tractors and agricultural equipment. Festivities all begin at 9 a.m.
Over 6 Million New Yorkers Applied for NY Marketplace Health Plan
A record-breaking over 6 million New York residents applied for coverage through New York's official health plan Marketplace. This number corresponds with the American Rescue Plan pandemic financial assistance. According to the governor’s website, more than 150,000 state residents will receive tax credits and Cuomo remarked: "As we work toward rebuilding and reimagining a post-pandemic State, ensuring New Yorkers have access to affordable health care is more important than ever."
Bath Man Charged with Felony
A felony count has been leveled against a Bath man. State Police say they arrested 61-year-old Anthony Kroeger. He was charged with first-degree scheme to defraud. That count stems from an incident reported January 6th in the village. He was initially detained.
Corning Woman Arrested on DWI Charges
Charges have been filed stemming from a vehicle crash that caused injuries on June 2nd. Troopers say they arrested 50-year-old Wendy Sprayberry of Corning. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. She was released to a third party.
NY’s Positivity Rate Drops to 0.60%
New York has a new record-low for single-day and 7-day average COVID positivity rate. The statewide rate had dropped to 0.44% with the 7-Day average has been lowered to 0.60%. New York has had 59 consecutive days of decline. Hospitalizations have also dropped to under 1,000 for the first time since October 21st.
Two More COVID Deaths Reported in Allegany County
There have been two more COVID-related deaths in Allegany County…that from the DOH in Belmont. An 86-year-old male and an 80-year-old-female are the 57th and 58th Allegany County residents to pass away due to complications from COVID-19.
