Steuben County murder victim identified, suspect arrested
New York State Police have provided a major update on the suspicious death near Bath yesterday. The victim was identified as 38-year-old Roberta Parry, and her 55-year-old boyfriend Ricky Brooks has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in her death. Parry was found deceased on Friday morning in a home on the 7000 block of North Main Street in Kanona, near the Town of Bath, with which she shared with Brooks. A cause of death for Parry was not released by State Police
61 new COVID-19 cases in Steuben County
The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification that 61 Steuben County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, including an individual associated with the Pinecrest Home for Adults in Avoca, an individual associated with the Maryville Home for Adults in Avoca, two individuals associated with the Maple Leaf House in Hornell, and individuals associated with the Bath and Hammondsport Central School districts. This brings the county total to 4,552 confirmed cases, 687 of which are currently active.
Bath man arrested for animal cruelty
46-year-old Anthony Carmon of Bath was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty after allegedly failing to provide food and water to his dog. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The dog was transported to the Finger Lakes SPCA where it is receiving treatment and care.
SUNY CCC spring semester set to begin February 1
The Spring semester at SUNY Corning Community College is set to begin February 1st, with a combination of on-campus, hybrid, and online classes. In compliance with guidelines, SUNY CCC will not have break weeks and will conclude, as scheduled, with the final exam week set to run from May 10-15, 2021.
