Local lawmakers Tom O’Mara and Phil Palmesano are urging the public to vote for Watkins Glen International as America’s “Best NASCAR Track.” In a joint statement, the legislators reminded everyone that it is the final day of voting for the USA Today’s 10 Best.Watkins Glen International is in the running for the title for the 5th year in a row. WGI has won it three years in a row, from 2016 to 2018.

 

New York State has established a means for residents to report violators of the new travel advisory issued. The restriction states that anyone traveling outside of New York to a state with a higher infection rate needs to quarantine for 14-days upon return. The state announced a form will be available on the state website for residents to report others for violating.

 

An Avoca man faces multiple felony counts following an incident in the Town of Thurston on the 4th of July. Troopers arrested 39-year-old Cory D. O’Donoghue. He was charged with assault with the intent to cause physical injury with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon, both a class D felony counts. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

 

Beginning today, people entering New York State court buildings will face some new procedures. The state Office of Court Administration says officers will conduct temperature checks on all visitors. If your temperature is 100 degree or higher, you’ll be denied entry. Those who make it through the temperature checkpoint will then asked several health questions, to include travel in COVID-19 hotspots both in the States and abroad.

 

State Police arrested 30-year-old Charles Johnson of Addison. He was charged with felony first-degree criminal contempt involving physical contact. He was additionally charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief. The charges stem from a domestic dispute in the Town of Erwin.
