It was a trailer fire on More Haven Drive in the 9am/10am hours. Numerous fire departments responded. No other information is available at this point.
It's Getting Closer to School Budget Voting Time
Avoca Central School officials are working on finalizing their budget numbers. They’re also doing that at Prattsburgh Central School. At the Bath School District they say, this past Wednesday night, they approved their proposed school budget for the 2026-2027 Bath school year. The public vote on all school budgets will be held on May 19.
Mayor Sweet & Trustees Working On The Village Budget
Bath Village Mayor Michael Sweet says the village board has started the process of doing their budget. Sweet says the village budget will likely be done on April 11. The Bath Village Board’s next meeting will be Monday March 16.
Prattsburgh Bridge To Be Worked On Starting Mar 30
A bridge closing is coming up in Prattsburgh: That’s the bridge on County Route 74 in Prattsburgh, which will be closed for ten weeks and that’s starting on March 30.

Steuben County Department of Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose has announced that the bridge on County Route 74 (Prattsburgh–Pulteney Road) over Five Mile Creek, located between County Route 77 and Flynn Road in the Town of Prattsburgh, will be closed to all through traffic beginning March 30, 2026.
The closure is necessary to allow for a full bridge reconstruction. The structure, Bridge No. 74-02 (BIN 3333970), will be rebuilt with new concrete abutments and concrete deck beams to improve the safety and longevity of the crossing.
The project is expected to take approximately 10 weeks to complete, depending on weather and construction conditions.
Motorists should note that there will NOT be an on-site detour, and drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes accordingly during the construction period.
Steuben County officials appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure improvement is completed.

Two St Patricks Day Parades To Be Held On Saturday
Over in Hornell, on Saturday March 14, they’re going to be a having a lot of St Patricks Day fun. The parade starts at 11am on Genesee Street in Hornell and there are all kinds of bus runs around Hornell, to the various restaurants. Then in Horseheads, a Saint Patrick's Day Parade is slated for 2pm Saturday. Both the Hornell and Horseheads mayors are inviting the public to attend.
Schumer, Gillibrand Condemn Anti-Semitic Attack In Mich
U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand both put out statements saying that their thoughts are with the children, families, congregants, staff, and first responders at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The senators also say that they are grateful to the local officers who responded quickly.
Troopers Are Asking For the Public's Help With 1970 Case

FROM NSYP: On March 20, 1970, the body of a male was located without a head or hands on Davis Hill Road in the town of Andover. Over the course of nearly 56 years, investigating members of the New York State Police continued to track down every lead, but the identity of the male remained unknown.
On June 07, 2022, an exhumation of the body was conducted for the purpose of collecting DNA. With the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the DNA was ultimately used to determine the body to be that of 35-year-old, Clyde A. Coppage, who was living in Genessee, Pennsylvania at the time of his disappearance. Coppage was not originally from the area and had never been reported missing. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Amity are seeking public assistance with any information on Clyde A. Coppage.
The investigation into the death of Coppage remains open and active.

Area State Lawmakers , Voting Against The State Budget
GOP State Senators Tom O’Mara, George Borrello and Assembly members Phil Palmesano, Andrea Bailey and Joe Sempolinski, are all voting against the proposed state budgets. The upstate Republicans say the proposed budget, as it is now, does not get rid of the climate change laws.
