Appealing The Sheriff Jim Allard Article 78 Case
Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler and County Legislator Scott Van Etten have filed an appeal about Supreme Court Justice Jason Cook’s decision in the Article 78 case, which overturned the county’s attempts to remove the sheriff’s indemnification. “This just proves that this has nothing to do with protecting Steuben County residents,” said Sheriff Jim Allard. “It’s just unfortunate that things have gotten to this point, and the majority of the County would prefer to move forward,” said Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick. We reached out to County Manager Jack Wheeler and county lawmaker Scott Van Etten. County Manager Wheeler said he has no statement at this time. Van Etten said that he’s not available right now but would like to catch up with us next week on this issue.

Rose says he’s extending his heartfelt thanks to those workers who answered every phone call about snow emergencies in the 2024- 2025 winter months.

Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement saying $78 million dollars is being pulled by the Trump Administration. The governor says this is money that was going to be used for public safety and counter terrorism programs. According to Hochul, these cuts will have a negative effect on law enforcement’s ability to keep New York State residents safe.
