Campbell Man Killed In A Fatal Accident In Horseheads
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Department reports that 21 year old Andrew Davis of Campbell, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Horseheads on Saturday morning.  Officials with the sheriff’s department there say Davis struck a barrier in the roadway on or around I86 in the 8am hour Saturday morning, was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

 

RECALL: WANABANA APPLE CINNAMON FRUIT POUCHES

Steuben County Public Health says RECALL: The FDA is advising parents and caregivers not to buy or feed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches to children because the product may contain elevated levels of lead. Parents and caregivers of toddlers and young children who may have consumed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches should contact their child’s healthcare provider about getting a blood test.

 

Governor Hochul Was In Tompkins County Today

Governor Kathy Hochul was in Ithaca today, for a roundtable to discuss the anti-semitic threats made to Cornell University.  The national news is reporting today that there were numerous death threats made to Jewish students at Cornell.   

 

Early Voting Is Underway & Election Day Is Coming Up 

Early voting started in Steuben County this past Saturday.  There are three early voting locations, one in Bath at the County Annex Building at 20 East Morris Street in Bath.  The other early voting sites are in Hornell at the Community Arts Center and in Corning at the South East County Library.  Early voting hours are 10am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Early voting ends Sunday November 5.  If you’re going to vote on the official election day, Tuesday November 7.  Election Commissioners also say you have to go to your assigned poll site, according to the district you live in on Election Day.  Voting on election day in Bath is at all voting locations, Bath District 1 is at the Kanona Fire Department, Bath District  2 is the Savona Municipal Building, Bath District 3 is the Bath Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Bath District 4 is at the Centenary United Methodist Church. 

 

Glider Accident In Chemung County On Saturday 

Also, there was a glider accident in Big Flats, that was on Saturday afternoon.  The sheriff’s department  there says that a 67 year old Pennsylvania man was giving glider flying lessons to a 14 year old girl from Horseheads when the glider went down on Harris Hill Road.  Neither the instructor or the 14 year old girl were injured.

 

Prescription Drug Bottle Take Back Day Was A Big Success

The Steuben County Sheriff’s department says thety held a Drug Take Back Day event this past weekend here at the Public Safety Building in Bath, NY. The event collected 81 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription medications. This is on top of the hundreds of pounds of unwanted and unused prescription drugs that the Sheriff's Office collects and destroys annually.
