D.A. Baker: Xylazine, Is Now In Steuben County Drug Cases

Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says there has been more than one case of the severe skin rotting drug Xylazine being used, in the county.  "We have seen a couple of cases where that stuff is being sold," Baker said this morning.  "We are hearing that it is floating around the streets.  That's how Fentanyl started.  First we heard it was a national problem, it was popping up, around the border, and then we were hearing more about it.  Then it began to replace cocaine and heroin, and now it's in all of our drugs."

 

Update On The Alfred State Gang Assault Case
The four Elmira suspects, who are ages 19 and 20, who are accused of 1st degree gang assault, against an Alfred State College student, were in Alfred Village Court last night.  Alfred Village Judge Wende Bush remanded the four back to Allegany County Jail.  Bail is the same as before, $25,000 for three of the suspects, $10,000 for the other suspect.

 

The Governor's Father Has Died

Empire Report New York has a story this morning, about how Governor Kathy Hochul’s father, 92 year old Jack Courtney, died of a brain hemorrage in Florida overnight.  The governor wrote a message about her father, on the Western Wall.  Her father had been to Israel and very much liked to go there.  The New York Post reports that the governor wrote on the Western Wall, quote, “I pray for my father, who cherished his visit to this Holy Land, and who passed during the night.”
