Three Bath Police Sergeants, Are Being Honored

Steuben County and Bath Village officials say that Bath Village Police Sergeants Ruggles and Recktenwald were commended for their involvement in the arrest of the active shooter on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath, on the night of August 20.   Also, 

Bath Mayor Michael Sweet and others are congratulating Sgt. Megan Cheresnowsky.  Mayor Sweet is saying that Sgt. Cheresnowsky is the youngest person to ever become a sgt, and the first female to be promoted to that rank in the Bath Police Department. 

 

Two Budget Hearings Coming Up In The Town Of Campbell

There is a Public hearing for the Campbell Fire District Budget tomorrow at the New Campbell Fire Station on Route 415- that will be at 6:00pm Wednesday evening.  Also, Campbell Town Clerk Michelle Seeley says the Campbell Town Board is working on the town budget.  There will be a public hearing about the Campbell Town Budget on October 23 at the Campbell Town Hall.

 

Urbana Voting Tonight About The State's Tax Cap 

The Urbana Town Board is going to  have vote on Local Law No. 3 of 2023, a local law overriding the property tax cap for the fiscal year commencing January 1, 2024.   They are holding another Budget Meeting tomorrow night at 6 pm to continue working on the budget, in Urbana. 

 

Senator O'Mara: Just The Tip Of The Iceberg

Republican State Senator Tom O’Mara says, the increase in New York State Electric And Gas utility bills, is only the beginning.  "It's just the tip of the iceberg," O'Mara said yesterday.  "It's being done to keep up with the (state) Green New Deal and to keep up with the electrification of everything," O'Mara said. 


Hostages Update From The Governor And Sen Gillibrand 

Governor Kathy Hochul is heading to Israel today.  The Democrat governor also says she’s working with the State Department to get the hostages out.  "As the Governor of the largest Jewish population outside Israel, I recognize we have a unique and solemn responsibility to support Israel during this critical moment. I'm proud to stand with my fellow Governors to show our support for Israel, and grateful to my colleagues for their bold moral leadership," said Hochul.  Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is also speaking out about the hostages.  "I want the hostages and their families to know," Gillibrand said, "we will not stop fighting for you.  We will do everything to bring you home and we will never give in to terrorists."    

 

DEA Drug Take Back Day Is Coming Up In Bath

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says there is going to be a D.E.A. drug take back day, in Bath, Saturday October 28 at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Rumsey Street Extension in Bath.  Sheriff Jim Allard says, come say hi to our deputies, and at the same time, drop off your unused medicine bottles.
