Steuben Co Public Works Commish Rose Statement Regarding That Bridge In The Town Of Campbell 

Steuben County Department of Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says the Wood Road Bridge in the Town of Campbell is posted for a 20-ton limit effective immediately. The bridge between County Route 125 and Savona Campbell Road, and was closed for six weeks for deck repair.

Hammondsport Central Hoping For A Sports Team Merger

Could there possibly be, a sports team merger, down the road sometime, between Hammondsport and another school in the area?  The answer is, maybe.  But it appears that this is a long way off.  The Hammondsport School Board president sent out a letter to neighboring schools around six months ago, asking if any local schools were interested in an athletic merger.  Bath School Superintendent Kelly Howk says, the Bath School Board discussed this letter at the September Bath School Board meeting.  The latest is that Hammondsport  Central School is holding a town hall meeting next week.  "I am holding a town hall meeting next Thursday, October 12^th at 6:30pm in our auditorium," Hammondsport Superintendent Kyle Bower tells Wvin.  "For the purposes of resharing the information the Board gathered and answering questions from the community. We are still in the exploratory phase of this process with a long way to go," Bower stated in his email this morning.

 

Gov Gives Break To Those Applying To SUNYs This Month  

If you want to go to Corning Community College or know someone who does, check this out: The Albany Times Union reports that Governor Kathy Hochul is making it so students submitting applications to SUNY Colleges, won’t have to pay an application fee if they apply this month.

Cornell Cooperative Extension's Grade School Ag News

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County has a new program called Agriculture in the Classroom.  How does it work?  Agricultural educators will be stopping by classrooms at schools throughout Steuben County, grades K - 7.  "There are currently 7 Districts that have joined this program and in the first month 5 of the districts have had their first lesson" said an official with Cornell Cooperative.  "The totals for September include 38 classrooms with 629 students in attendance. As this new program takes off CCE Steuben is looking forward to watching it grow and bringing more awareness of agriculture to our classrooms."
