Road And Bridge Work Is Coming Up In Steuben County. 

 Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says Route 76 in Urbana between the Hammondsport Village line and Sanford road, will be single lane traffic, starting Monday, July 24, and that will last till August 11.  Construction work hours will be 7am to 4pm.  County crews will be replacing a guardrail.   Commissioner Rose also says the Anglehart Road bridge in the Town of Lindley, will be closed on or about Monday, July 24, and that work will last for 10 weeks.   The bridge will be removed and completely replaced with a new concrete box culvert.  There will not be an on-site detour.

 

U.S. Senators Get Funding For Elmira/Corning Airport Work

Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand got 4.3 million dollars in funding to the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport.  The funding will be used to reconstruct the airport’s tarmac.   

 

Langworthy's FAA Amendment Passes In The House

Congressman Nick Langworthy (R, NY23) and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R, NY24) got an amendment passed, to keep the current FAA rule in place, so that airline pilots have to have 1500 hours of flight training.   Langworthy's district includes parts of Erie County, where Flight 4307 crashed over a decade ago.  The congressman made a point of saying there has not been an airline crash in America since pilots have been getting the required 1500 hours in training, which has been an Federal Aviation Agency rule since the aftermath of the Flight 4307 tragedy.       

 

Borrello : Fighting That Second Hand Marijuana Smoke

GOP State Senator George Borrello has introduced legislation that would ban smoking and consuming of marijuana in public places unless specifically authorized by that locality.  Borrello says, since the laws changed in 2021, he’s gotten a lot of complaints about people’s children getting exposed to marijuana smoke in public.
