Early Voting Starts This Coming Saturday

Steuben County’s Board of Elections Commissioners remind all registered voters in the county they may cast their General Election ballot beginning Saturday (Oct. 29) at three Early Voting locations. “Many voters find it more convenient to vote when they are out running errands, others want to vote in person before heading south,” said county Democratic Commissioner Colleen Hauryski.  The locations include the Steuben County Annex in Bath, the Community Art Center in Hornell and the USWA 1000 Union Hall in Corning.

The commissioners stressed anyone casting a ballot during the Early Voting period – which lasts through Nov. 6 — may cast their ballots once. “Early voting is the same as voting on Election Day, except you have nine days and three locations to
choose from,” said Republican Commissioner Veronica Olin. “Voters are only allowed to vote once, either during early voting or on election day.”

Early Voting from Oct. 29 through Nov. 6 is available to all registered voters at the three locations noted above:

Ø 9 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays
Ø 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday
Voters that wish to vote only on Election Day may do so from 6 am until 9 pm. Nov. 8 at their regularly assigned poll site, the commissioners said.
The ballots this year include two propositions on the back side, including one calling for the county Legislature’s districts to be reduced from 13 to 11, with representation remaining at 17 legislators. For more information on early voting, ballots and Nov. 8 polling places go to the Steuben County Board of Elections website at www.steubencountyny.gov/boe or call (607) 664-2260.
