New Home For A Deputy Who Is A Veteran

Bath resident Brent Nadjadi, is a Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputy, who has a newly built home to live in, in Bath.  That’s thanks to Homes For Wounded Warriors.  In 2010, Brent Nadjadi, was injured by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.  He sustained a broken jaw, as well as broken bones in his legs, his feet, and has damaged spine.  About the new home he can now live in, in Bath, Nadjadi says, on his FB Page, “home sweet home, and there are no words except to say, what a privilege, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”


The Complaints Keep Coming From Prison Guards In Elmira

More fights at Elmira Correctional Facility.  Two fights this month, and it’s only October 5th.  In one case, they say a 41 year old inmate who is doing a 25 years to life sentence for 2nd degree murder, punched one guard in the eye, hit another guard in the face, and another guard suffered a knee injury.  In the other incident, 17 inmates got into a fight in the prison cafeteria.  According to officials, pepper spray had to be used in both incidents, to get things under control.   Both of those incidents that were reported, happened on the same day, October 1st.  The prison guard union spokesman says, Elmira Correctional Facility employees want to know, what it will take, to get the state to bring back the punishment that inmates are afraid of, so that there are less of these incidents.

Sempolinski And The Words Matter Act

Congressman Joe Sempolinski  is working to pass, the ‘Words Matter Act.’ This bill would eliminate ‘the r-word’ from the U.S. Code.  He says that in 2022, that dehumanizing word has no place in our Federal Law.  Sempolinski says, the “Words Matter Act” is intended to update the U.S. Code by removing and replacing more than two dozen uses of outdated and offensive language aimed at the disability community from Federal law.

 

Both Candidates On The Campaign Trail

Republican congressional candidate Nick Langworthy, who is running for the new 23rd congressional seat against Democrat Max Della Pia, Nick Langworthy was in Rochester, Elmira and Hornell yesterday.  Max Della Pia put out a video yesterday, about as subject he’s raised numerous times: supporting abortion.
