Pine City Man Is Charged/Is A Suspect For Other Break-In's

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on August 29, deputies arrested Rusty C. Lane, Jr., age 34, of Sagetown Road, Pine City, following an investigation of a reported burglary in progress on Swarthout Road, Lindley. Deputies located Lane in a garage which he allegedly did not have permission to enter or remain in. It is further alleged that Mr. Lane damaged a window of the garage and then refused to submit to his lawful arrest. K9 Daimon was deployed and Mr. Lane then submitted to arrest. It is further alleged that Mr. Lane possessed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Mr. Lane was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a class E Felony, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Mr. Lane was also arrested in connection to two active warrants, from Chemung County and the Town of Caton Court. Lane was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail due to the active warrants.  The sheriff also says, Lane is a person of interest in several reported burglaries in both Steuben County and Pennsylvania. Investigations are continuing and future charges may be pending.

 

Special Meeting Coming Up Thursday In Campbell

The Campbell Town Board will hold a Special Meeting at the Campbell Town Hall at 8529 Main Street on September 1, 2022 at 10:00am to consider and adopt the Resolution and Final Order Increasing the Maximum Amount to be Expended for Water District Extension No. 1 and Award the Construction Bid, Contract #1, for Water District Extension No. 1 and any other Town Business needed to be discussed. A copy of the proposed Resolution and Final Order can be viewed at the Town Hall.
