A Hit And Run In Prattsburgh

Bath State Police report, that there was a hit and run accident in Prattsburgh.  Troopers say that accident was on Kilbury Road, there were no injuries.  

 

Senator Chuck Schumer Visits Corning Inc and Alfred Univ

On Friday afternoon, Senator Schumer stopped by Corning Incorporated.  "I love Corning," Schumer said.  The senator was filled with praise for all the work that is performed inside the Corning facilities, in Corning, Canton and Fairport.   "They employ 6,000 people here in the southern tier," Schumer said.  The senator also visited Alfred University, where Schumer announced that Alfred University will be receiving $4,000,000 for a new research project involving the US Army and Hypersonic missiles.  Schumer and Alfred University’s Gabrielle Gaustad (Dean of the university’s Inamori School of Engineering) noted that the materials that will be used in some projects, must be able to withstand speeds greater than Mach 5.

 

Haverling Named As A School Of Excellence

For the 2021-2022 school year Haverling was named as a School of Excellence in the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete program. In order to earn this distinction, a school has to have 75% of their varsity athletic teams earn scholar athlete status. This past year, we had 21 of 22 teams qualify!

 

Attempted Homicide In Allegany County

Allegany County State Police say, there’s a case of an attempted murder in the normally quiet little Allegany county town of Bolivar.  35 year old Shawn Deahn is accused of 2nd degree attempted murder and other charges, after allegedly stabbing an 82 year old man repeatedly on the 82 year old man’s property in Bolivar, while the 82 year old was on a riding mower.  The 82 year old is at Strong Memorial Hospital for life threatening injuries.  Shawn Deahn is in Allegany County Jail.

 

The August 23rd Primary Is Approaching 

Polls show the primary is very tight between Carl Paladino and Nick Langworth, a dead heat in one poll.  Also, a new poll out from McLaughlin and Associates  has Governor Kathy Hochul at 48 percent, Lee Zeldin at 40 percent, undecided 12 percent.
