Judge McAllister Steps In

The Gothamist.com reports that Steuben County Judge Pat McAllister has issued an order, making a cutoff date of August 11th for voters who want to switch party affiliation so they can vote in the Republican Primary.  Aug 11th is the last day to change your party to vote in the GOP congressional primary.  This is being done to prevent a kind of voter cheating called “party raiding”.     

 

Brooks Baker: Why The Severity Of The Four Charges 

In October 2019, there was a fatal DWI in the Town of Pulteney.   Dustin Drake of Prattsburgh was the driver.  Four passengers died as a result of a car crashing into a tree.  Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says, there are four 2nd degree murder charges against  Drake, because of the graphic nature of this fatal DWI.  Baker says the driver was going 86 miles an hour on small town roads and passengers died almost instantly in that accident. 

 

A Bath Teenager Is In The News Again

The Village of Bath Police Department reports that 18 year old Morgan Abeel of Bath, who was recently charged by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly robbing a motel in Erwin, is now being charged by Bath Police.  Now, Abeel is accused of criminal contempt and 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Bath Police say, the sheriff’s department is holding Abeel in custody right now.   Also, Bath Police are charging 22 year old Liberty Ferris of Bath with 2nd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Ferris was ticketed and released.  However, there may be more charges against both Liberty Ferris and Morgan Abeel.  The Bath Police Chief says that over $4,000 worth of drugs, have been uncovered because of these arrests.
