Bath Area Accident Victim ID'd 

On July 29, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m.,the State Police responded to a serious injury motorcycle accident on I-86 in the town of Bath.  The operator, identified as, Casey Getman, age 29, was eastbound on I-86 and attempted to pass between 2 vehicles, also traveling eastbound, and lost control of the motorcycle and struck the guide rail.  Getman was airlifted to Strong Hospital and was pronounced deceased at 3:33 p.m.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the investigation is continuing.

 

August 1, 2022, Steuben Co Covid Update

The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of a COVID-related death.  This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Steuben County to 303.  The individual was a male resident from the City of Corning who died at the age of 95.  Also, there are 153 new cases since last Monday.  

 

Gas Prices Aren't Exactly Going Down By A Lot

The Steuben County Department of Public Works, is, like everyone else, spending a lot more money on gasoline.  "Over the past six months we've seen major increase in gasoline and deisel pricing," said Steuben County DPW Chief Eric Rose.  "To date, we've expanded our annual budget amount, for our line items for gas and deisel.  The usage, is about the same at this point as it was last year at this time, but it's just that the cost is so much."  

 

Close Call For Three Teen Drivers In Horseheads   

State troopers report that three teenagers, ages 17, 17 and 18, were in a three car accident in Horseheads.  Two of them were from Horseheads the other was from Elmira.  The three escaped without injury.

 

Rochester Police Officer's Funeral Is Today

Governor Kathy Hochul and Congressman Zeldin and Alison Esposito will pay their final respects to fallen Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz today, Mazurkiewicz was killed in the line of duty on July 21st.

Democrat Congressional candidate Max Della Pia is speaking out against Senate Republican Pat Toomey (R, PA) for stalling the vote on the Pact Act, which is intended to help veterans who need treatment for sicknesses they got from being around burn pits.
