May 16th Covid Update

There have been 588 new COVID cases reported since last week’s update. The number of new lab cases is down a little from last week and hospitalizations are very low.  Officials say Steuben still remains in the high COVID community level, so masking indoors in public places is still recommended. Other safety measures include getting vaccinated and boosted when eligible, staying home when sick, and testing if you have symptoms, after exposure and after travel.

 

M.A.D.D. Wants More Ignition Interlocks 

Mothers Against Drunk Driving are having a press event at the state capital today, They want the state government to require ignition interlocks for all those who make DWI plea agreements install these devices.

 

Governor Kathy Hochul/Buffalo Update

Governor Kathy Hochul is making 2.8 million dollars in federal and state funding available to the victims and families of victims of the buffalo shooting on Saturday.  The governor says that the Reverend Al Sharpton is helping out with funeral expenses.
