No Smoking/Vaping On Town Property In Prattsburgh

There is a new town law in Prattsburgh about no-smoking and no vaping on town property, that new law was adopted this week by the Prattsburgh Town Board.

 

Steuben Co Weighs In On BA.2 Variant 

Steuben County Public Health is encouraging people to get the vaccine or booster, as a way of keeping the BA.2 subvariant of covid numbers, down.  That's according to Public Health Director Darlene Smith.  "This is a sister variant, to the Omicron Variant," Smith tells Wvin News.  "So far the early data is indicating that it is at least as contagious as Omicron, and perhaps even more contagious.   But the good news is, it does look as though the current vaccine is effective in preventing a serious illness, should someone who is already vaccinated, contract this particular variant." 

 

Update On Criminal Enterprise Case 

In December 2020, several men were arrested by State Police for an alleged drug and prostitution ring.  Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says Larry Comfort Sr and Jonathan Hamilton were in court yesterday, Comfort pleaded guilty to numerous charges and might be given six to twelve years in prison, when sentenced.  Hamilton pleaded guilty to 2nd degree criminal contempt.

Dansville Woman Is Facing Federal Charges

The U.S. Attorneys Office has indicted, a Dansville woman, on six counts, for allegedly entering the Capitol Building in Washington DC on January 6th.   The indictment says that Katharine Morrison quote – “did knowingly enter and remain in a restricted building and grounds, that is, any posted, cordoned off, and otherwise restricted area within the United States Capitol, and it’s grounds, where the Vice President was temporarily visiting, without any lawful authority to do so.”
