Bath Volunteer Fire Dept’s Upcoming Fundraiser

Coming up on Saturday March 19th, the Bath Volunteer Fire Department is having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser.   That will be at the Bath Fire Department building from 4pm to 7pm, on Saturday the 19th, the cost is $10.00

O’Mara And Palmesano, Attend “Local Roads Matter” Rally

This morning at the state capital in Albany, State Senator Tom O’Mara (R, Big Flats), Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R, Corning), and more than 60 state Senators and Assembly members, held a news conference about upstate roads.  The two GOP lawmakers called for increasing the base funding level for the CHIPS program by $250 million to a total of $788 million; increasing EWR funding by $50 million to $150 million;  distributing the $100 million proposed for the new “Pave Our Potholes” program utilizing the existing CHIPS/EWR aid formula to ensure equity and fairness; and  increasing the five-year, DOT Capital Plan to $44.1 billion, an $11.3-billion increase.   

 

Possible Tax On Ammunition Makers, Might Increase Cost of Ammo

Some downstate state legislators are talking about starting a tax on ammunition makers.  If passed into law, it would be a two cent to five cent tax per cartridge tax.  Critics say, the increase in gun crime is coming from criminals in big cities, that don’t shop at gun stores for ammo.  Supporters of the bill say, the money made off the ammo tax, would be used to pay for gun violence research.   

Tish James: Watch Out For Scams Related To Ukrainian Causes

State Attorney General Leticia James is warning New York State residents to be cautious when giving to charities for the Ukraine.  According to the A.G. we should watch out for emails asking for money, and double check to make sure that the organization we are giving to, is legit.
