Bath Man Arrested After Narcotics Investigation
Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports that today deputies arrested 40-year-old Jose A. Velez of Bath. The arrests follow an investigation of reported narcotics sales in the Bath area. Velez was indicted by the Steuben County Grand Jury for possession and sales of a controlled substance and a subsequent warrant was issued. Velez was arrested due to the Superior Court Warrant of Arrest. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. Velez was held in the Steuben County Jail pending arraignment in Steuben County Court.

 

Millport Man Arrested for Burglary in Corning
A Millport man was arrested by Troopers for burglary after a nearly year-long investigation into an incident first reported last winter. Yesterday, 29-year-old Danial Sargent in connection to a reported burglary from January 2021. State Police discovered Sargent was allegedly living in an apartment in the Town of Erwin while the actual tenant was staying in Rochester for a period of time. The landlord contacted Troopers after noticing Sargent in the apartment. Sargent was arrested in Corning and charged with second-degree Burglary.

 

Cameron Mills Woman Arrested in Bath for Grand Larceny
Troopers arrested a Cameron Mills woman Saturday morning after an almost seven-week-long larceny investigation. Sally Gilbert, 58, was arrested in the town of Bath and has been charged with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree for allegedly stealing property valued at over $1,000. No details were given on what was stolen, or where it was stolen from as the incident is pending investigation. Gilbert was released on an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date.

 

3 Hospitalized After Savona Crash
A Saturday night crash in Savona sent three young people to nearby hospitals. Troopers say the accident happened when a vehicle struck a culvert pipe. Two minors and an 18-year-old were in the vehicle. Troopers are reporting the crash was a non-criminal accident and that no arrests were made. Statuses of the crash victims are unknown at this time. The survey gives people a way to test the speed of their internet connections at home or in the office, then take a short survey. Paper copies of the survey also are available. Bath Man is Steuben’s Latest COVID Death; Smith Says Get Vaccinated

Steuben County Public Health Department reported another COVID-related death: a Town of Bath man who was 78.  This brings the total number of COVID deaths in Steuben County to 278 since the beginning of the pandemic. Public Health Director, Darlene Smith said  "Getting vaccinated is the best path forward." Today is a COVID vaccine clinic is at the Civil Defense Training Center in Bath from noon - 6 PM. Buffalo Bills Clinch AFC East After Winning Over NY Jets 27-10
The Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East championship for the second straight year yesterday, winning the title 27-10 over the New York Jets. It’s the third time in franchise history that the Bills have won back-to-back division titles. The first time, it was when they won four straight from 1963 to 1966 and again from 1988 to 1991. Last season marked their first division crown since 1995.
