WGI to operate at full capacity for “Go Bowling at the Glen” NASCAR weekend

Watkins Glen International has announced there will be no restrictions this year for the Go Bowling at the Glen NASCAR weekend, set to take place the weekend of August 4th through August 8th. The grandstands will be fully open for the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races on Saturday, August 7th, as well as the ARCA Menards Series race on Friday, August 6th. In addition to the NASCAR weekend, Watkins Glen International will also play host to the upcoming IMSA Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, June 24th through the 27th, and the IMSA WeatherTech 240, July 1st and 2nd.


New York State to begin closing mass vaccination clinics

New York State will be closing four mass COVID-19 vaccination sites, including Corning Community College, as well as York College, and sites in Oneonta and Potsdam, beginning June 21st. Governor Andrew Cuomo said the downsizing of mass vaccination sites is due to the progress on vaccinations statewide. All open sites will continue to offer walk-in vaccinations for all eligible individuals.


Guthrie to loosen visitation guidelines at facilities

Effective June 21st, Guthrie will begin to relax visitation guidelines at its facilities. Visitors will be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. All patients and visitors will be screened for temperature and symptoms of COVID-19 as well. Patients will be permitted two visitors at a time between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.


Rollover accident in Horseheads

Traffic was delayed yesterday in Horseheads due to a multi-car rollover accident that took place on Grand Central Avenue in Horseheads, at the intersection of West Steuben Street. One vehicle had a Colorado license plate, while the other had a New York plate.
