66 new COVID-19 cases in Steuben County
The Steuben County Public Health Department has received notification that 66 Steuben County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, including a resident of the County Valley Home in Bath, four employees of Alstom, an employee of URMC Primary Care in Hornell, an employee at Community Services in Bath, two employees of Family Life in Bath, and an employee of the Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District. Another individual was at the Elks Club in Hornell on days identified by other positives as well as additional dates: If you have visited the Elks Club in Hornell in the last two weeks, monitor for symptoms and consider getting tested. This brings the county total to 2,732 confirmed cases, of which 479 are currently active.
3 new COVID-19 deaths in Steuben County
The Steuben County Public Health Department has received notification of the death of three individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 128. All individuals were residents of the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center; one male age 84, one female age 86, and another male age 75, who died while hospitalized.
Greenwood man arrested after domestic incident
Deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua J. Groves, age 34, of County Route 60, Greenwood, New York on December 15th, following an investigation into a reported domestic incident at a residence on County Route 60. It is alleged that Mr. Groves struck two family members and damaged property in the residence. Mr. Groves was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and two counts of Harassment in the Second Degree. He was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
Bath man arrested on drug charges
The Village of Bath Police Department has reported the arrest of Roy D. Hyer, age 43, of 31 W. William St. in the Village of Bath on a Steuben County sealed indictment warrant for the Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, both class D felonies. Upon searching Mr. Hyer, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and subsequently charged the Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor. Mr. Hyer was processed and taken to the Steuben County Jail to be arraigned at a later date by a County Court Judge. More charges are expected in the future.
Bath PD looking for three individuals on felony drug warrants
The Village of Bath Police Department is looking for the following people on felony drug warrants:
- Jennifer M. Schwan, age 36, for failure to appear in county court on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Sale of a Criminal Substance in the Fifth Degree, class D felonies. Her last known address is Reservoir Hill Rd. in Hammondsport.
- Rose M. Everts, age 30, currently believed to be in the county somewhere, is wanted on a bench warrant out of Steuben County for Criminal Possession and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, class D felonies.
- John E. Corcoran, age 50, currently in the Hornell area, is wanted in Steuben County Court on a bench warrant for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class B felonies.
