55 New COVID Cases Reported in Steuben
The latest media release reports Steuben County health officials report 55 new COVID-19 cases. This brings the total to 1,768 confirmed cases, 259 of which are currently active. The new cases involve school employees, hospital workers and nursing home employees. 21 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Allegany County. State Officials place the county virus-related death toll at 46. The have been 1,082 confirmed cases of coronavirus since March. This morning, 941 county residents are in isolation or quarantine. 


Reed Says Eviction Assistance & Second Stimulus Being Talked in DC 
Congressman Tom Reed says members of Congress are considering an assistance plan to prevent a spike in evictions caused by the pandemic as both  the New York state and federal eviction moratoriums are scheduled to expire December 30th. Reed acknowledges even if the moratorium is given an extension,  people who lost jobs and businesses because of the pandemic may still owe months of back rent. Reed says the eviction crisis and proposing more housing assistance are part of negotiations underway in Washington, D.C. and is predicting the next COVID relief package will include additional unemployment benefits and be between $500 billion and $1 trillion.


Hammondsport Board of Trustees Meet Tomorrow
The village of Hammondsport’s board of trustees will meet at 5 p.m. tomorrow in the village office on 18 Water Street. The meeting will be a workshop for the 2021-22 budget.


Painted Post Announces Village Holiday Parade
The Village of Painted Post announced it will hold its first Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 12th which will start at 6pm in Hodgeman park. A parade of  decorated and lit up vehicles from around the area will wind through the village before ending in Craig Park. Parade organizers ask all parade watchers to socially distance from those they don't live with and do not gather in large groups. The parade can be enjoyed from the sidewalk, front porches or within a car. Those wishing to participate in the parade must fill out an application and turn it into the village clerk's office by tomorrow.


Horseheads Crash on Route 13 Hospitalizes Two
Two people were hospitalized following a 3-car crash in Horseheads. According to WETM 18 News, three cars collided on Route 13 Friday evening and one person had to be extricated from their car. More updates including the conditions of the two injured will be released and reported as the investigation continues.


Cuomo Calls on Closing Cop Credential Misconduct Loopholes
Governor Cuomo called for the closing of bureaucratic loopholes that allow police officers to maintain their credentials regardless of past misconduct. Specifically, Governor Cuomo said in a phone briefing he’s considering closing the loophole that allows a cop accused of misconduct in one police department to get a new job at a different department.
