 Steuben Will Take COVID Orders Seriously Without Snooping

Though Steuben County officials remain concerned about a COVID-19 spike in the county during the holiday season, County Manager Jack Wheeler says that doesn’t mean they’ll be snooping on Thanksgiving dinners…. A state executive order was issued by the Governor that limits the number of guests you can host to ten. Wheeler did, however, ask county residents to be prudent on how many people gather in one place. After Steuben had its “yellow zone” designation lifted just weeks ago, Wheeler and other health officials say they don’t want to set back progress by sliding back into the designation.


Bath DMV Closed This Week Due to COVID Case
Due to a positive COVID-19 case within the Bath DMV Offices, the Bath DMV location will be closed this week. Residents with appointments at the Bath DMV today, tomorrow or Wednesday should not report to the office. Those with appointments this week need to reschedule and select a new appointment online at: https://steubencountydmvbath.setmore.com. Staff will also work to find alternative accommodations for those with cancelled appointments and will provide an update this week.


Route 54 Bridge Replacement Under Construction in Urbana
State Transportation officials report a bridge replacement construction project is happening to  enhance safety along Route 54 in the town of Urbana near the south end of Keuka Lake. The project replaces the existing bridge carrying Route 54 over Loughline Creek, just east of Back Valley Road, with a modern steel multi-girder bridge designed to include wider shoulders, creating bike space, and a new sidewalk for pedestrians.


Wreaths Across America Cancelled for 2020
Thursday the Wreaths Across America program made the decision to cancel the program for this year. Wreaths purchased this year may roll over to next year. More details will emerge as they plan to publish a press release soon…..


Bath Man Arrested for Violating Protection Order
State Police arrested 31-year-old Lee Cornell of Painted Post. The arrest followed an alleged violation of an order of protection in the Town of Corning. Troopers charged him with felony criminal mischief and felony first-degree criminal contempt. He was initially detained in lieu of cash bail.


WGI Announces Camping Truck World Series Races Next Summer
Watkins Glen International will be hosting one of the 2021 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races next summer. The race will be held at the Glen on Saturday, August 7. It will be a doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. On Sunday, August 8, the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen will be held as well. This marks the first time since June 2000 that a Truck Series race will be held at the Glen.


Bath Man Arrested After Canisteo Pursuit
After taking Canisteo Police on a chase, a Bath man is facing a slew of charges. 42-year-old Randall Plank Junior of County Route 11 was later arrested back at his home. Plank was charged with fleeing a police officer, obstruction of governmental administration, reckless endangerment, failing to obey a police officer, and a number of traffic infractions. He was issued appearance tickets for court at a later date.
