Tomorrow’s Prattsburgh-Avoca Sectional Soccer Game Cancelled
At this time, the third-seeded Prattsburgh-Avoca sectional soccer game at home with Scio scheduled for tomorrow will not take place after Prattsburgh-Avoca has withdrawn from the post-season tournament. Prattsburgh Superintendent Kory Bay cites the entire Scio team not wearing facial coverings while they play as a reason for this decision. Bray says he and Avoca Superintendent Steve Saxon as well as the school district medical attorney made the best decision for their students and families’ safety. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s COVID Task Force calls for athletes to wear face coverings at all times “unless unable to tolerate face covering for physical activity.”
Glenn Curtiss Museum Receives $14,000 in Funding
The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum received $14,000 from two funds managed by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. The grants include $4,000 from the Keuka Area Fund to be used for operations and $10,000 from the Edith Saxton Fund for Steuben County Youth Services to develop a robust digital museum learning experience. Executive Director Ben Johnson said
the museum is a magnet normally drawing nearly 30,000 people to this area every year. Johnson said these gifts will help them reach even more families virtually.
Cuomo Signs North Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway Designation
Governor Cuomo has signed legislation designating a portion of the state highway system in the town of North Dansville as the “North Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway” The legislation, requested by the town of North Dansville through a unanimous resolution, will rename a portion of Route 63 in the town to recognize the valiant actions of veterans, as well as their brave and honorable service and sacrifice.
Troopers Arrest Bath Woman
State Police arrested 32-year-old Pamela Nagel of Bath. She was charged with felony first-degree criminal contempt involving physical contact. Court action is pending.
Urbana Man Arrested on Impaired Driving & Charges
State Police arrested 20-year-old Jason Adams of Urbana. He was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, fleeing police in a vehicle, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
NY Lifts Yellow COVID Cluster Zone for Southeastern Steuben
Yesterday, New York state lifted its Yellow COVID-19 cluster zone designation from the southeastern portion of Steuben County after a decrease in the infection rate. The cluster designation was assigned to our region back on October 21st following an uptick in the number of coronavirus cases that part of the county was seeing.
On FLX Gives Day, Local 4H Kids Need Your Help!
With FLX Gives day tomorrow, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben is asking the community for help by giving to their annual one-day campaign. The 4H Group is looking to raise $4,000 tomorrow to build a new bathroom that is closer to their 4H site at the fairgrounds to make getting ready before a show much easier for the members.
