Drug Prescription Take Back Day Tomorrow at Public Safety Building
In recognition of National Drug Prescription Take Back Day, the Steuben County Sheriff and the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee will host the annual “Drug Prescription Take Back” collection from 10 am – 2 pm Oct. 24 at the county Public Safety Building. County residents are asked to bring their unwanted and expired prescription medications to the drop off at the PSB lobby, located on Rumsey St. Ext.


Police Investigating Shooting Last Night at Horseheads Hotel
An investigation began in Horseheads following Village Police receiving a report of gunfire last night. Police responded to the Red Carpet Inn around 10:30 p.m. last night for a report of shots fired. Officers from the Elmira Heights Police Department, Chemung County Sheriff's Office, NYSP, NYSP K-9 and the City of Elmira Police Dept. all responded to the report. Police say no one was injured in the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Horseheads Police at 607-739-5669. 


Addison School Begins Full-Time Virtual Learning Next Week
The Addison Central School District will transition to full-time virtual learning for all students (PreK-12) beginning on Tuesday. District officials say they are planning for this transition to last for two weeks. However, if their ability to conduct COVID testing changes or the positive rate declines for our area, they may be able to open sooner.


20 New Cases of COVID Reported in Steuben
The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification that 20 Steuben County residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total to 978 confirmed cases, 301 of which are currently active. The new cases include an employee of Calvin U. Smith Elementary School; Two employees of Campbell- Savona: one at the Elementary School and one at the Jr./Sr. High School; Two employees of the Bath VA; and employees at Guthrie Southern Tier Pediatrics, Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Elmira Correctional Facility and Wegmans in Rochester.


Early Voting Begins Tomorrow
Early voting begins tomorrow in Steuben County. Tomorrow’s hours will be from 9-2. The voting location is the Steuben County New Annex Building at 20 East Morris Street in Bath. Early voting continues until Sunday November 1 st . 


NYS Property Tax Cap Meeting Set for Friday 11/11
The Town of Pulteney says it needs to override the New York State property tax cap. On October 14 th , the town board considered a local law giving the town the authority to go beyond the tax cap in needed. Now, town residents can weigh in at a public hearing on the local law scheduled for Friday evening, November 11th at 7:25 p.m. at the Town Hall. Five minutes after that hearing, the Council will hold a second hearing about the preliminary town budget.
