Bradford School Reports 2 Students Positive for COVID
The Bradford Central School district reports two students tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of those cases, the second and sixth grades have been placed into quarantine until October 21st. This news was posted on Facebook by superintendent John Marshall. He added there were “some additional students in other grade levels” who have to be quarantined due to coming into close contact with the two students either on the school bus or at other times.

 

Bath Man Arrested for Burglary
Bath Village Police reported they arrested a 31-year-old Bath man after a burglary investigation. Mickey Pike was charged with felony second degree burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny. He is currently on parole for criminal possession of a controlled substance and was taken to the Steuben County centralized arraignment court where he was arraigned and released. Bath Police say New York State Parole has not yet issued a parole warrant for Pike for allegedly violating the conditions of his release.

 

Steuben County Health Department Reports COVID Uptick
The Steuben County Health Department says they're seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases this and last month, compared to the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak that began in the spring. “A high day for us in March, April and May would be you know 10, 12 cases and we're pretty consistently reporting over 20 a day," says Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler.  Hospitalizations are also reported to be higher in Steuben County. The Steuben County Health Department says they will be reporting the new number of COVID-19 active cases and additional information sometime today. 

 

Bills Play Tonight on WABH
It’s game time for the Bills tonight. With the undefeated Bills and Titans set to play tonight at 7 p.m., there will be four unbeaten teams left after week five. In the past two seasons, the last remaining undefeated teams, Rams in 2018 and 49ers in 2019 made it all the way to the Super Bowl. For the Bills, they are looking to start 5-0 for the first time since 1991. It would also be the Bills first five-game win streak since 2004. Reed at Geneva Rally Today ; Mitrano Holds Meeting Tomorrow
Republicans will be turning out in support of Congressman Tom Reed at an endorsement rally at the Geneva Printing Company this afternoon. State and local Republican politicians like Senator Pam Helming and State Supreme Court Candidate Vince DiNolfo, among several others, will show up to support Reed. Reed’s opponent, Democratic Congressional candidate Tracy Mitrano will appear at a League of Women Voters candidates forum on ZOOM tomorrow night at 6pm. A Libertarian candidate from Chautauqua County will join her as a contender to represent the 23rd Congressoinal District. The League of Women Voters invited incumbent Republican Tom Reed to the Zoom meeting, but he has declined.

 

E-Z Passes Encouraged as Thruway Tolls go Cashless in 2021
Drivers don’t need an E-ZPass to travel on the Thruway, but starting next year, they may want one. New York State Thruway tolls will be cashless by the end of this year and drivers are being encouraged to get E-ZPass devices. If they don’t, they can still go through tolls, but they will be charged more. Those who don’t have an E-ZPass will pay 30 percent higher tolls and a $2 surcharge for each bill sent through the mail.
