Steuben Democrats Endorse Danks-Burke for Senate
Committee Chairman Shawn Hogan announces Steuben County Democratic Committee’s endorsement of Leslie Danks Burke in her campaign for State Senate in the 58th District. Danks-Burke called it her honor to have the full backing of the Steuben County Democratic Committee. She’s running against Republican incumbent Tom O’Mara.


Prattsburgh and Avoca Make Sectional Wins
Two big Section V wins this weekend at the Blue Cross Arena for the Prattsburgh Vikings and Avoca Tigers boys’ basketball teams. In the Class D1 Finals the Tigers defeated Genesee Valley 80-58 to win their first sectional title in 30 years. The Vikings took down Elba in the Class D2 title 72-64. Avoca and Prattsburgh face off in a state qualifier at Bath-Haverling this Wednesday.

One Person Injured in Hornellsville Crash
State Police said one person was injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 36 at the I-86 Exit 34 westbound on ramp in Hornellsville. Troopers didn’t say who was hurt but they listed the drivers as 27-year-old Tessa M. Harris of Whitesville and 63-year-old Kim Renee Careri of Lockport.


Village of Cohocton Seeks Village Maintenance Supervisor
The Village of Cohocton seeks a Village Maintenance Supervisor for hire. The full-time supervisory position requires a minimum of 42 hours per week. Applications are due by March 25th.


WETM Hosts Phone Bank to Answer Coronavirus Questions
Friday evening Steuben County Health Department officials participated in a phone bank at WETM studios to help viewers answer questions about the Coronavirus. Though the Southern Tier region has a low risk for someone to test positive for Coronavirus, numbers in the state continue to rise. Call the New York State Coronavirus help line at 1-888-364-3065 with any questions.


Avoca Woman Arrested for Threats
State Police report the arrest of 31-year-old Alicia R. Howe of Avoca following an incident Saturday in the Town of Bradford. Howe was charged with stalking-threatening injury and aggravated harassment for allegedly communicating threats. She was initially detained.


State of Emergency Declared in NY for Coronavirus
The number of coronavirus cases in New York state increased to a count of 105 yesterday and Governor Cuomo predicts the numbers will continue to rise. States of Emergency are now in place for New York and Pennsylvania. The growing number of confirmed coronavirus cases was cited as the cause by both governors for the declarations.
