Campbell Man Arrested for DWI
Steuben County Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested a Campbell man on DWI charges. It is alleged that 35-year-old Jason Horton operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Horton was charged with DWI, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, having a BAC of over .18% or greater and fail to keep right. Horton was released on traffic summons to appear in Campbell Town Court at a later date.


Taste FLXPo This Friday
Friday, February 21st, from 5-8pm is the 3rd annual Taste FLXpo at Corning Community College where people can taste the  Gaffer Dixtrict area. The event is $10 for admission presented by Finger Lakes Farm Country and the State Farm Bureau. FLXpo will have spirits, wine and beer as well as foods grown in the area for an informational, educational and experiental event. Those under 13 get in for free. For tickets, visit TasteFLXpo.com.


Upstate Farms Announces Grant to Aid Upgrade
Upstate Farms Cheese  announced a $1,550,000 Consolidated Funding Application grant the company will receive to aid a planned $11,400,000 plant upgrade. The grant will upgrade production equipment to help increase production volume by 16 million pounds by the end of 2023. According to the 2016 Annual Summary of New York State Dairy Statistics, Upstate Farms Cheese produced about 16 percent of the Italian Cheeses manufacture in New York state.


Bath Rotary Club Announces Scholarships
The Bath Rotary Club announced scholarship and student loan opportunities for local high school seniors as part of its mission to help students further their education. Applications are available to seniors at: Avoca Central, Bath-Haverling Central, Bradford Central, Campbell-Savona Central , Hammondsport Central, and Prattsburgh Central Schools for the Frank E. Nicklaus Memorial Scholarships co-sponsored by the family of Frank E. and Rachel Nicklaus, the Bath Rotary Club Scholarships, and the Ted Markham Memorial Scholarships. Seniors attending Bath-Haverling Central School are eligible to apply for the Wes Payne Memorial Scholarship, Vern Woolston Memorial Scholarship, and Interact Scholarships. An applicant cannot be the child or grandchild of a current Rotarian for these scholarships. Additional $15 Million inHEAP Benefits Available
Households can apply for a second emergency benefit through the Home Energy Assistance or "HEAP" Program if they are in danger of running out of fuel or having utilities shut off and have already received HEAP benefits this winter. An additional $15 million was added to the state program and announced this week. The deadline for emergency and regulary HEAP benefits has been extended to April 24th. This additional funding means households could receive up to $2,200 from HEAP to help defray the cost of heating their home this winter.


Wayland Man Charged with DWI
A Wayland man was charged with DWI after Sheriff deputies Deputies responded to a report of a one car collision on County Route 6 in Avoca. It is alleged that 37-year-old Erik Willyerd operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated and caused a vehicle to be run off the roadway. Willyerd was released on traffic summons to appear in Town of Avoca Court at a later date.
