Power Companies Report Local Outages
Steuben County Emergency Services reports that NYSEG as well as Bath Electric and Steuben Rural Electric are affected by electrical outages due to the high winds. Utility companies are working to restore power to areas including Bath, Urbana, Pulteney, Cohocton, Hammondsport, Savona, Bradford and Wheeler. Other isolated outages have been reported across the county. No shelters have been opened at the time. For all power-related issues, please call your utility company.
NWS Wind Advisory Continues to This Evening
The National Weather Service’s wind advisory for Steuben County continues until 6 p.m. tonight. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs are blown down and a few power outages have resulted.
Daylight Savings Ends this Sunday
A reminder that this weekend is the ending of Daylight Savings time. The time change begins at 2am this Sunday, November 3rd. The time change means clocks will go back one hour, bringing the time back to standard time for most of us in the US. The shift in time means one hour of daylight will be added to the morning from the evening and we can enjoy an extra 60 minutes of sleep.
Wegmans Announces Cookie Dough Recall
Wegmans has announced that all stores in its chain have recalled Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough products due to concerns of having pieces of rubber in the mix. Three different Toll House products have been recalled:
Toll House Cookie Dough, Chocolate Chip flavor, 16.5 oz with a UPC of 50000-62231 and a Batch Code ranging from 9191 through 9282,
Toll House Ultimates Cookie Dough, Chocolate Chip Lovers, 16 oz (1 lb) 453 g with the UPC: 50000-00926 and Batch codes from 9189 through 9280
Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough, Chocolate Chip, 80 oz (5 lb) 2.26 kg that has the UPC:50000-00934 and Batch codes from 9192 through 9271
Wegmans officials say you can return these products to the Wegman’s Service Desk for full refund of the purchase price.
Cameron Mills Man Arrested for DWI Following Campbell Traffic Stop
During a traffic stop on County Road 1 in Campbell, state police arrested 21-year-old Wesley Smith of Cameron mills. He was charged with DWI, speeding and moving from a lane unsafely. He’ll appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
Pulteney Holding Public Hearings Wednesday 11/13
The town of Pulteney holds two public hearings on Wednesday, November 13th. The first hearing is based on a proposed local law that would allow the town to override the state property tax cap. The second hearing will allow public comment on the town’s proposed 2020 budget. A copy of the budget is available at the town clerk’s office. The hearings begin at 7:25 p.m. on November 13th.
