Four Killed in Pulteney Weekend Crash
Four people were killed over the weekend in an accident in the Town of Pulteney. According to Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard, the crash happened at about 1:15 am Saturday on County Route 76 between Rugby and Briglin Roads. The crash closed off nearby roads for a few hours and it was reported a fifth victim was airlifted to a local hospital. The names of the victims have not yet been released and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

 

Cuomo Announces Grants & Rebates for Emission-Free Vehicles
Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced communities that want to promote emissions-free vehicles can apply for a portion of $3 million in rebates and grants. The deadline for municipalities to apply is May 25, 2020 for $2.5 million in grants supporting installation of hydrogen filling station components or electric vehicle supply equipment. These grants are available for up to $250,000 for a single facility, require 20 percent be matched locally, and have a limit of $500,000 for a municipality. Clean vehicles purchased by municipalities since July qualify for $500,000 worth of rebates while plug-in hybrid, all-electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are eligible for $2,500 to $5,000 in rebates.

 

NYS DOT Announces Paving on Rte 415 in Avoca
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that, weather permitting, from tomorrow to this Friday October 18th, a combination of state forces and railroad personnel will be replacing and paving around a railroad crossing on State Route 415 in the Town of Avoca .25 miles South of the Hamlet of Wallace. Local traffic will be detoured on County Route 7 through the Village of Avoca while truck traffic will be detoured on I-390.

 

Avoca Village Board Schedules Thursday Public Hearing
The Avoca Village Board has scheduled a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, October 17th. Officials say the purpose of the hearing is to solicit input from residents in relation to furnishing fire and/or ambulance protection.

 

Blood Drive Held at Bath VA Tomorrow

Basketball Group Seeks New Members in Meeting Tonight
The Steuben County Boys Basketball Officials’ International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board 156 is seeking new members for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in becoming a boys’ basketball official should attend the first instructional meeting to be held 7pm tonight at the Bath American Legion at 14 West William Street in Bath.
