City of Hornell to Crackdown on Troublesome Traffic Spots:

The City of Hornell is hoping to encourage motorists to slow down this summer by reminding drivers of the consequences of speeding.  The areas the city is most concerned with include those frequented by children, including routes to parks hosting summer programs, and in the vicinity of other summer events.  Mayor John Buckley has said his office has received complaints about several areas, and Police Chief Ted Murray said that speed enforcement initiatives will target these areas during the summer months.  The Chief urges drivers to asses their surroundings at every corner, and to drive at speeds that could prevent tragedy.

4th of July Celebrations:

If you’re looking to celebrate the 4th of July with some fireworks here are the events planned for around our area: on the day, July 4th, Hornell will host a day-long event, with fireworks at dusk at Veterans Memorial Park and Corning will have fireworks at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.  This weekend, on the 6th, Hammondsport will have their annual fireworks display over the lake during the Fireman’s Carnival at approximately 10:30 p.m.
