Red Flag Warning for Steuben County:


The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for a combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity for Steuben County from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. today.  Also included in the warning are Schuyler, Chemung, Tioga, Broome, and Sullivan counties.  Critical fire conditions are likely, with increased risk for rapid wildfire growth and spread.



Two Ambulances Collide Near Steuben/Chemung County Line:


A crash involving two ambulances occurred Tuesday night near Buck Hollow Road on Route 414 in the area of the Steuben/Chemung county line.  The accident happened around 10 p.m. with firefighters and a medical helicopter responding.  There is no word at this time about injuries.



Wegmans in Elmira Evacuated after Electrical Issue:


The Wegmans in Elmira was forced to evacuate all customers Tuesday night after an electrical issue forced the store to turn off all its lights.  The Fire Department responded, but no flames were reported.  There were no injuries either.  The store said last night that it hopes to reopen this morning.



Watkins Glen Opening Weekend:


Watkins Glen will kick off its 2019 season with Opening Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.  The Arc of Schuyler will hold its 6th annual Arc Grand Prix Run at the track on Saturday.  Registration is still open online, or you can do so Saturday morning at 6:30.  The race starts at 8.  Following that, for $25, guests will be able to three laps around the course in a personal vehicle.  Tickets will go on sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gate 2.  There are no pre-purchases.  Proceeds will benefit the WGI Racing and Community Enrichment Foundation (R.A.C.E.).  For more information about WGI’s opening weekend, be sure to join us here on WVIN Friday morning when we’ll have an interview with track President Michael Printup as a part of Community Focus.



Dormann Library Celebrating 20th Anniversary:


The Dormann Library in Bath is inviting their neighbors and patrons to join them on April 11th to celebrate their 20th anniversary.  Construction began on the library in April 1998 and it was completed in January 1999.  Volunteers helped move the books from the Davenport library hand-over-hand in a long line.  The anniversary event will include light refreshments and entertainment from 5 to 7 p.m.



Bath Baby Café Easter Party April 12th:


The Easter Bunny will be making a visit to the Bath Baby Café on April 12th for their Easter Party, which is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dormann Library.  This free event is open to the public and offers families an opportunity to relax and meet with other mothers and children, with popular activities such as face painting.  There will also be a diaper and basket giveaway.  The party will follow the weekly Baby Café program, which runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
