Missing Rochester Man found Near Hornell:


A missing Rochester man has been found safe near Hornell.  40-year-old Mike VanLare had been missing for about a week, after he left his city apartment without his wallet and cellphone.  VanLare’s family has thanked the public for their help in a Facebook post.



Special Bath. BOE Meeting Thursday:


A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Bath Central School District will be held on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in the District Office for personnel matters.



Firefighters Raise $4,100 for Muscular Dystrophy:


Members of the Hornell Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 835 raised $4,100 this past Friday to help kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases.  The money from the “Fill the Boot” campaign, held on Seneca Street, will go directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help fight muscle disease through resources and support, including the MDA Care Center at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  It also helps support the MDA Summer Camp, which is offered at no cost to more than 70 local children and their families at Camp Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush. 



Ride for the Red Saturday:


The 10th Annual Red for the Ride Motorcycle Run, put on by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Red Cross and the Arkport-Corning Harley Owners Group, will be this Saturday.  Riders will travel throughout the Finger Lakes region with stops at the dealership in Arkport and the Bath V.A.  There will also be a barbeque at 1 p.m. at the Big Flats American Legion pavilion.  Pre-registration for the ride has been extended to Wednesday.  It’s $25 per person.     



CCE Centennial Celebration Sept. 14th


The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County will hold a Centennial Celebration on September 14th from 6 to 11 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Wine Company in Hammondsport.  Festivities begin with a social hour and include a dinner and music.  The cost is $50 per person, $90 for a pair of tickets.  To register, call 664-2300.
