Livingston County woman found guilty of murder

Livingston County Sheriff has announced the conviction Danielle Allen for murder.  The jury came back with a unanimous guilty verdict for the stabbing death of her boyfriend Marcus Postell back in 2016. Forensic evidence and new technology loaned by the Niagara County assisted in helping to get the conviction. Allen could end up in jail for 15 years and is expected to be sentenced in Sept.

Classic Boat Show in Hammondsport

The 36th Annual Classic Board Show is this weekend in Hammondsport. The display of antique boats is hosted annually by Wine County Classic Boats. The two  day event will feature up to 100 boats at Depot Park along with a classic car and truck show on Shether Street. WVIN Radio will be there with an on location broadcast from noon to 2:00pm with the Parade of Boats scheduled for 3:00pm

Savona man arrested

A Savona man has been arrested by the Steuben County Sheriff’s office and has been accused of sexually abusing a child.  74 year old Robert Thompson has been arrested on two counts…forcible touching and forcible sex act of a 15 year old girl. Thompson was taken to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail

Wellsville Balloon Festival

The 43rd annual Great Wellsville Hot Air Balloon Rally is this weekend. Thirty-five pilots have registered for the event. Mass launch time are generally around 6:30 tonight and Sunday morning. All launches are weather dependent. The event is free to attend. The Rally is located at the Lagoon Recreation Fields, next to Island Park along the Genesee Parkway in the village.

Over 11,000 tickets issued

The New York State Police say troopers issued a total of 11,480 tickets statewide during the 4th of July STOP-DWI enforcement campaign which ended July 5th. During the 108-hour campaign state police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols and ticketed distracted drivers who used handheld electronic devices. Troopers arrested 216 people for DWI and investigated 165 personal injury accidents, which resulted in 244 people being injured with four fatalities. Troopers said the overall number of tickets and DWI arrests were up from the 2017 campaign.

Corning Inc issues dividend

Corning Incorporated’s Board of Directors has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.18 per share on the company’s common stock. The dividend will be payable in September to shareholders of record on Aug. 31.

Tour De Keuka Today


Motorists around Keuka Lake take care today as you’ll be sharing the roadway with cyclists.  The annual Tour de Keuka benefitting the Food Bank of the Southern Tier begins in Hammondsport this morning.  Rides run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Some 250 cyclists are expected with $75,000 being raised to provide 220,000 meals through the Food Bank.
