 Rochester Man Charged in Bath Robbery:


The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Rochester man in connection with a robbery in Bath.  According to police, deputies responded to Victory Lane on April 27th on a report of a robbery in progress and their investigation alleges that 41-year-old Anthony Larkin stole property from another person.  Larkin was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. 



Kittens Thrown from Car in Bath Doing Well:


The three kittens thrown from a moving car in Bath are said to be doing well, according to local animal rescue “Pawz and Purrz.”  The kittens were found by a passerby who witnessed the incident.  All three were between six and eight weeks old, and were in poor health.  One of the kittens had an eye infection that required surgery to remove the eye.  The rescue said that kitten is recovering well from his surgery and will have his stitches removed soon.  All three kittens are now looking for their forever homes.  If you’re interested in adopting any of them, you’ll need to contact Paws and Purrz and fill out an application. 



Tickets on Sale for Steuben OFA’s Night in Vegas:


Tickets are on sale for the 27th annual joint extravaganza co-hosted by the Steuben County Office for the Aging Advisory Council and Bath-Haverling Student Council.  “Evening in Vegas” is set for 5 to 8 p.m. May 19th at Haverling High School in Bath, and it will feature table top games, music, dancing, refreshments, and prize drawings.  Tickets are $10 for singles and $15 for pairs.  Tickets can be purchased at all three county Office for the Aging offices, Haverling High School main office, or at the door.



Free Bike Maintenance Workshop:


There will be a free bicycle maintenance workshop offered by Corning Bikes and Elmira Bikes on May 19th from noon to 3 p.m. at the Southeast Steuben County Library in Corning.  The seminar will offer instruction on everything from airing up tires to getting brakes and chains in shape.  The seminar is free for anyone 10-years-old and above, but registration is required at (607) 936-3713 EXT 213.
