Troops Investigating Bath Burglary:


New York State troopers are investigating a burglary that occurred on Saturday between 11 a.m. and noon on Robie Road in Bath.  Troopers say the perpetrator(s) entered a garage and stole a 12-gauge Ithaca shotgun.  Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police, or Steuben County 911.



Greenwood Man Accused of Forcibly Touching Neighbor:


A Greenwood man has been arrested after he allegedly touched a neighbor inappropriately.  38-year-old Shawn Horton has been charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse in the 1st degree.  He has posted $2,500 bail.  He had been ordered to reappear in court at a later date.



Rep. Reed Voices Support for Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill:


Local representative Tom Reed is voicing support for an anti-sexual harassment bill that’s been proposed by a Virginia Congresswoman.  The bill, proposed by Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, calls for mandatory training and universal, uniform anti-harassment, zero-tolerance policies.  In response, Reed said that “sexual assault and sexual harassment has no place in the workplace,” and that he thinks it’s “only appropriate that we adopt this legislation in the house.”  In related news, Congressman Tom Marino of Pennsylvania announced a bill of his own on Tuesday.  It would ensure that tax-payer money is not used in sexual-harassment settlement cases that involve members of Congress.



Fill the Bus for Families in Need with Avoca’s Christmas in the Park Sat.:


This Saturday Avoca hosting its annual Christmas in the Park event from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Parade-N-Glow Contests.  You can also help local families in need as the Avoca Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) will be collecting donations at the Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to fill the Christmas bus with gifts for children of all ages and non-perishable food items for families.  The gifts will be distributed in the students’ annual Christmas Basket Give-Away.  The parade begins at 2:30 p.m., with judging for floats and units on Main Street.  Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. after the tree lighting.  If you’re interested in entering, you must either:  message their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/avoca.christmas, email avocachristmasinthepark@gmail.com, or call (607) 566-2111.  This year’s theme is “What Christmas Means to You.”



Arby’s to Buy Buffalo Wild Wings:


Rumors of a forthcoming deal between Buffalo Wild Wings and Arby’s have proven true, as it’s been announced that Arby’s is buying the sports bar chain for $2.9 billion, or $157 per share.  Arby’s is owned by Roark Capital, which also has stakes in Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, and Jimmy John’s.
